When North Milwaukee veterans were discussing a name for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post they were organizing, the names of the Gross and Yaksh brothers were frequently mentioned. They had grown up in this area, attended Custer High School, and were well known and well liked. Someone presented the idea of combining the two names, so Gross-Yaksh became the Post name.
